Travelers: Netflix Does it Again

Eric McCormick and J. Alex Brinson

In October Netflix released a new series called Travelers.  I had an opportunity to watch the first season on the Christmas weekend.  It was intriguing, interesting and light enough on the science that you wouldn’t be confused.  I also enjoyed the actors as well.

Travelers is a sci-fi series starring Eric McCormack, MacKenzie Porter and Nesta Cooper .  Hundreds of years from now, surviving humans discover how to send consciousness back through time, into people of the 21st century. These travelers assume the lives of others, while attempting to save humanity from a terrible future.

MacKenzie Porter’s portrayal of Marcy Warton was outstanding.  Her role required her to act as a person with diminished capacity, a doctor and a assassin.  MacKenzie pulled it off and made you believe she was all those roles and more.

Reilly Dolman, Mackenzie Porter and Nesta Cooper

My favorite character turned out to be Nesta Cooper’s, Carly Shannon.  Carly was a abused mother of an infant when her consciousness was replaced.  Nesta changed Carly into a strong woman who stood up to her ex-boyfriend, even beating him down a couple of times.  She was also a person who could be counted on to complete the mission.  I must admit I had never heard of Nesta Cooper prior to this show but I’m sure we’ll be hearing more from her in the future.

Travelers left me wanting more.  Netflix is on top of their game with their recent releases and this one is certainly going to help them.  I can’t wait for the next season!
