The Movement – Lahla-Hadiya

I discovered the recent release by Lahla-Hadiya today, and I can’t stop playing this song over and over. It starts with a roll call of those brothers and sisters who the police have slain over the years and a call to say their names. The middle of the song gives the same roll call followed by that same call to action.

The lyrics as with all Lahla-Hadiya songs are amazing. She is a talented songwriter, singer and musician that the world will come to realize one day. I love the way she overlays her own backgrounds to the song to give it that unmatched sound by anyone. A few years ago I heard her double album, My Thoughts 1 & 2, and it knocked me off my feet. The Movement hits me the same way, but it also motivates me to join the movement and shout my “No Justice, No Peace” mantra with everyone else.

Toward the end of the song, she displays her love for God as she tells us we need to put our lives in the hands of the Almighty One. This saved, sanctified Saint never forgets the one who continues to bless her now and forever. If you purchase anything this weekend, make it this song. If you’re like me, you will love it!
