Beauty – To Mask Or Not To Mask

Beauty – To Mask Or Not To Mask

Face masks are a great addition to your skin care regimen. Whether in sheet form or cream, the right face mask can help remove impurities, hydrate brighten, tone, and remove excess oils to help improve the overall appearance of your skin.

But where do you begin…? I would highly recommend before you begin using any brand face mask that you know your skin type (normal, oily, combination, dehydrated) and skin condition (acne, redness, puffiness, etc) to select the proper mask to target your specific issue. Face masks should be applied to clean skin for 10 – 15 minutes and work best when pores are open. Before starting, place a warm washcloth on your face for about one minute, the steam will open your pores to soften and remove debris and oil from you skin. It also allows the face mask ingredients to better penetrate your skin and go to work.

Now I’ll admit, I never really used face masks before becoming an esthetician, but I like trying new beauty products and finding things that work well with my combination/oily skin type. Well, while shopping in Target, I stumbled upon a face mask brand Que Bella for under $3.00 each (happy dance). Each 0.5oz package is enough for at least 3 applications. Que Bella products are made with natural ingredients They have a variety of mask options to choose from to cover every skin type. At first I bought three, but then I went back few weeks later and bought six more! Below is my honest opinion on three that I tried over a 30-day period.

Purifying: Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Mud Mask

Tea Tree and Witch Hazel have antibacterial properties and work to act as an antiseptic, astringent, and anti-inflammatory agent. This mask gave me a tingly sensation that lasted a few seconds. I beauty maskplace all over my face and neck and let set for about 15 minutes. It dried to a white paste and wasn’t tight on my skin (a plus). Once I rinsed off with warm water, I noticed my skin appeared clearer and healthy. It didn’t cause any irritation or adverse effects. I’d definitely use again!!

Facial Exfoliator: Cherry & Apricot Exfoliating Cleanser

This exfoliator smells heavenly!! It works up to a good lather and really cleanses my skin. Did I mention it smells divine! I like that it wasn’t harsh on my skin (which can be sensitive at times) and left it feeling smooth, refreshed, and awakened! This one is a sure winner!

Revitalizing Overnight Face Mask

This overnight mask works to restore moisture and repair your skin to aid in preventing dehydration. It goes on clear and smells amazeballs (yes, another one)! After cleansing, I put this all over my face before bed. Before and lay down to go to sleep (usually because I’m surfing the web on cruising social media) presto, its dry. When I wake in the morning, my face isn’t greasy or oily looking. I wash my face with a warm washcloth and my skin feels smooth, soft, and ready for makeup!!!

beauty maskIf you are new to face masks or any beauty product, you do not have to start with the most expensive brand. You may be surprised to know that smaller, mostly unknown brands give the best results. You can purchase Que Bella at your local Target store or online at www.target.com.
