February is the second month of the year and although it is the shortest of all twelve months, it is a month where love (Valentine’s Day) is celebrated more than any of the other months.
This year, 2017 will be an amazing year and love will be celebrated more than ever. In the month of February love is celebrated on the 14th day and it is known as Valentine’s Day. Love is not just for couples, love is to be shared by all. 1 John 4:11 says, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.”
The fact that God loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to die for mankind and because God loved with such a great love, even when the world did not love Him, then we too should love one another.
God loved freely, unconditionally and limitless; therefore, we too should imitate God’s love by loving one another. God loved us through salvation, He loved us by forgiving our sins and He loved us by restoring us to a right relationship with the Father.
When we love others unconditionally just as God loves us, it is evident that the love of God dwells in us. There may be times in your life when you feel used, abused, misunderstood, unappreciated and even taken for granted; sometimes by family, friends as well as others that you hold near and dear. You may not always feel loved by others as you should and you may not always receive love from others as you desire but remember, God never called us to receive love from one another but rather He commanded us to love one another.
Remember, we didn’t deserve God’s love but He loves us anyway. So even when you feel that others are undeserving of your love, just love them anyway because God says so! Truly what the world needs more of is LOVE!
