Rama Montakhabi is an Iranian American SAG AFTRA actress, who grew up in Northern Virginia. Since the age of 4, she wanted to be an actress. Rama pursued it briefly in 2007 before moving to New York in 2009, where she worked on a few TV series & independent films. Losing both of her parents to health issues in 2017 & 2018, motivated Rama to pursue her dreams because she realized life was short. In only three years, with no agent or management, she got booked on several independent films, feature films, HBO, Showtime, MTV, VH1, Lifetime and is playing a recurring role as “Peaches” in season 2 of Starz’s BMF. That goes to show hard work and dedication can pay off.
Rama was a complete joy to interview. I’ve learned that not only is she a talented actress, but she is also a freelance painter as well. Rama loves painting as a therapy for her and can get lost in it. She is a dedicated actress and artist who truly loves what she does. Rama stated networking was very instrumental for her because she had no agent or management. It was up to her and her grind.
“My network is my net worth”, she stated. Rama learned quickly that it’s about the relationship you build. Rama recognized how fortunate she was to be good friends with her entertainment lawyer. He is very close friends with BMF show runner Randy Huggins. Rama attended the season one watch party at Mr. Huggins’ home and was offered an audition. She is grateful that she was at the right place at the right time. Fast forward, she is now starring in one of the biggest shows on the Starz network.
Rama tells me about her character Peaches, who is K9’s girlfriend. She states that Peaches is that ride or die chic, a bit of a bad girl that everybody wants. Rama also mentions that her character Peaches, is based on a real person and she had the pleasure of meeting when filming in Detroit. She received pointers on how to tell the story as authentic as possible.
Rama talked about how the cast and crew welcomed her with open arms. Meeting 50 Cent was a great joy and shocking because she didn’t know he was coming on her first day. She stated it’s a family atmosphere on and off set.
I asked, where would you like your acting career to take you? She replied, “To the top and winning awards!”
She answered, “Go hard at whatever you do and be selective and have boundaries. Boundaries are important because she had to turn down roles based on what she would and won’t do. You should never compromise who you are personally to become who you wish to be professionally.” Ramam Montikahabi is a class act.
When asked what difference she would like to make in the world, Rama stated she would like to reduce the amount of homeless people in California. Her ex-boyfriend and his family started Beauty in the Streets. They did hair and makeup for the homeless and Rama would do cornrows; making them feel beautiful.
Rama is planning to restart her, To Go Movement. The program consists of someone going out to dinner. If they have leftovers, they will take the leftovers with them and give them to the next homeless person they saw.
In her down time, Rama enjoys a glass of wine, candles, and good music. Losing her parents made her realize life is precious and not to take it for granted. She loves to
Rama has a stunning spirit, and she’s a joy to be around. Her personality lures you in and makes you want to know about this talented actress and artist.
