Happy Labor Day to all of you from The Lyfe Magazine! We hope you are enjoying your day with friends, family, or however you choose to celebrate the significance of the day.
In the late 1980’s into the early 1990’s, I was blessed to work for a trade show management company in Virginia. Although I worked with them for just under five years, I credit them for providing the bulk of my professional education in the workplace. It was during my employment with them I first heard the term “rest on our laurels”. We had recently completed a hugely successful show at Chicago’s McCormick Place. Everyone felt a great sense of accomplishment and we were all quite proud of the mark we made within our industry.
After the event, the president of our association reminded us that there was still more work to do so we could not “rest on our laurels”. But we did, in fact, take time to rest after the event!
No matter the area of our life we examine, there is still more work to do. Resting from time to time is indeed necessary, however. Please take advantage of this Labor Day to do two things:
Rest can bring the revelation we need to discern our next steps. Value rest in the same manner labor is valued. Both are important to living our best life possible!
