The very first Father’s Day celebration was observed on June 19, 1910, but it was not as popular as the Mother’s Day celebration. However, gradually the celebration became more popular. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson approved of the idea of making Father’s Day a national celebration. President Calvin Coolidge too supported the idea of a national Father’s Day in 1924 in order to “establish more intimate relations between fathers and their children and to impress upon fathers the full measure of their obligations.”
After a protracted struggle of over four decades, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day in 1966. Then in 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father’s Day to be held on the third Sunday of June, each year.
As we celebrate Father’s Day this month, never forget those faithful and true Father’s that have played important roles in our lives; whether they are a biological Father,
As we celebrate our earthly Fathers, let us always honor our Heavenly Father who is by far the BEST Father of all! There is nothing like a Father’s love, and our Heavenly Father continues to show love to His children. Give thanks to God today and always, because God is a wonderful Father!
