I was looking around for new music and remembered I hadn’t pick up the new album by James Fortune and FIYA. I came across a review that gave the album a one star review. The reviewer said they hadn’t even opened the album. I thought that was crazy and everyone shouldn’t be allowed to review items. Needless to say I purchased the album and in short, I love it!
The best song on the album is “I Forgive Me”. I can relate to this song. All of us have punished ourselves for things we’ve done in the past. God has forgiven us but we haven’t forgiven ourselves. This song is a proclamation for everyone to forgive themselves. “You’ve made mistakes but those mistakes don’t make you”! Amen!! When the song gets to the chorus that says, “I’m letting it go! You won’t steal my future anymore” everyone can shout to the mountaintop and leave their past behind them.
Zacardi Cortez is featured on “Favor of God”. This song will get you up and dancing for the Lord. It’s got a great beat and who doesn’t want to proclaim that they have the favor of God! Yes, and it ain’t my fault! I also love the tribute to HBCUs.
When I saw that Tasha Cobbs was featured on this song I knew it was going to be good. I love her music. My expectations were exceeded. I think I played this song ten times in a row because I loved it so much.
Now that brings me to my favorite song on the album, “I Wouldn’t Love Me”. Oh my God, this song is so me! I have told the Lord things and let Him down so many times
The rest of “Dear Future Me” is great as well. I let it play in my car several times. Usually I just pick the best songs and make a playlist. For this one I didn’t have to do that. James Fortune and FIYA thanks for blessing us with another great album.
