Proverbs 31:25-30 KJV
“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also , and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord , she shall be praised.”
When you think of a the modern day Mother she’s the heart and soul of every home. A Mother is more than having given birth to a child. It’s loving and knowing a soul before you even see it. She’s the quintessential being of every American family. A Mother is selfless and loving; one who sacrifices her wants and needs for the wants and the needs of her children. The first Mother mentioned in the Bible is Eve in Genesis 3:20. In the biblical perspective, the mission of Mothers were/are to raise children to follow the Lord. God designed the family as the primary system by which children are cared for, loved, trained, and empowered. Being a Mother encompasses a great amount of tension. She must be kind but still uphold biblical expectations, and she must know when to let go of the children she nurtured. Mother’s are PRECIOUS and they are PRICELESS! Let us pause to reflect on the gift of a Mother (especially a godly Mother). If your Mother has gone home to be with The Lord, thank God for the years you were blessed to be together! Think about the fond memories and all the good times that were shared! If you’re blessed to still have your Mother, never let a day go by without taking the time to tell her, as well as show her that you love her and that you care! If you are a Mother, a Grandmother, or even a Godmother…oh what joy! And, yes there are Sisters, Aunts, Nieces, and Cousins who may have had to step into the role of a Mother and for that thank God for entrusting you with such an awesome responsibility of nurturing and pouring into the lives of one of God’s most precious gifts! Let us remember, love, cherish, and honor Mother’s each and every day of the year! Being a Mother is a blessing, a gift, a relationship that never ends and a love that never dies. It’s the best thing I have ever become, the greatest love I have ever felt and the best part about being me.
