2017 is here! We are almost at the point where, yet another year ends and a new one begins. This is always a very refreshing time for me. One where old things are complete, and new things begin. Personally, I look forward to my daughters 1st birthday, my son entering the teenage years (13) and both my husband and my businesses continue to flourish. I have already set 5 goals that I have begun working on. How about you? Has it even crossed your mind or are you one of those people that has everything planned out, until the year 2020?
I posted a Facebook Live video this morning in my closed group ‘Nurses Success Circle’ speaking on the above. Yes, it truly is a good time of year to put your ducks in a row and line them up. But, it all begins with a good assessment of where you are now and where you want to be at some time in the future. This also depends on your potential aka ability and readiness to take action. Goals do not mean much if we do not muster up the courage and faith to take the first step. Like the old adage says, “nothing changes if nothing changes” ~Anonymous
Step 1: What is it that you desire? This is your why. New relationship? New job? To pursue a dream? Find it, make it clear and pursue it with all you might.
Step 2: Consider a partner or buddy to speak with and set S.M.A.R.T. goals with. Consider hiring a Coach to help keep you accountable. Connect with a prayer partner. “P.U.S.H. = Pray Until Something Happens”.
Step 3: Create your roadmap. Plan. Journal. Write it down. Set monthly goals in your calendar. But please, don’t keep it all in your head.
Step 4: Take action. Start your research. Network. Commit to your goals. It all starts with the first step. The journey of a thousand miles begins with the very first step.
Step 5: Revaluate your progress often. Review and analyze your progress. Just as with a road trip, you watch for signs along the road to ensure that you are on the right path and that you arrive at your destination in a timely manner. If you find you took a wrong turn or detour, get back on track ASAP and do not repeat the same mistake twice.
Do not allow another 365 days to pass you by while arriving at the same destination each year.
